Kerala Ayurveda Gandha thailam is prepared according to the original recipes mentioned in the ancient Ayurveda book, Bhaishajya ratnavali. Its high potency results from the unique preparation method: sesame seeds are tied in a cloth and kept in flowing water for seven days. It is soaked in yashtimadhu kwath and milk daily and dried in the shade for the next seven days. Again, it is soaked in milk, husk removed and powdered, mixed with the other powdered ingredients, and mashed with milk. This paste is cooked with milk and sesame oil to prepare Gandha Thailam and then made into a capsule for easy consumption and palatability. Each capsule is equivalent to 10 drops of Gandha Thailam.
